The Aquatic Reavers, also known as Sea Kin, Gillmen, or Oceanborn, are the creation of an infamous and powerful wizard named Morlak the Magnificent (later known as Morlak the Mad). This sorcerer, obsessed with the mysteries of the deep and the ancient legends of lost underwater kingdoms, sought to create a race that could thrive in both the ocean’s depths and on land’s shores.

Morlak’s experiments were driven by a desire to explore underwater ruins and harness the treasures and ancient technologies rumored to be submerged. Combining his vast knowledge of transmutation magic with forbidden dark arts, Morlak crafted a ritual that fused human subjects with the essence of deep-sea creatures. His initial experiments were grotesque failures, but over time, he perfected the process, giving rise to the first Aquatic Reavers.

Preferred Habitat

Aquatic Reavers prefer the transitional zones of the ocean—areas where the shallow coastal waters meet the deep sea. These regions provide the necessary resources for their survival and are complex enough to support their communities. They build their dwellings in underwater caves or coral reefs, which they can defend easily due to their adept swimming capabilities. There are rumors of an entire underwater city.

Special Abilities:

  1. Aquatic Adaptation: They can breathe underwater indefinitely and withstand deep-sea pressures.
  2. Amphibious: Reavers can also breathe air, allowing them to operate on land for limited periods.
  3. Bio-luminescence: Some Reavers can emit light from their skin, which they use for communication and to disorient predators or prey.
  4. Enhanced Reflexes: Both in water and on land, their reflexes are sharply tuned, giving them a predatory edge.
  5. Hydrokinesis (rare ability): A few, usually those directly descended from Morlak’s initial creations, can manipulate water currents and create small whirlpools, a gift from their creator’s magic.
